Ellenborough Park’s General Manager, Oliver Williams, Nominated for Boutique Hotelier’s 2017 Power List
We are proud to announce that our very own General Manager, Oliver Williams, has been listed in Boutique Hotelier Magazine’s 2017 Power List in the Young Trailblazers category. This category recognises the young professionals who bring a fresh perspective to design and ideas on emerging trends that help to mould the industry.
Oliver was appointed as general manager here at our truly unique hotel in the Cotswolds back in December 2015 and since then has been working tirelessly to secure Ellenborough Park as one of the UK’s leading luxury hotels. Since Oliver took up the reins, Ellenborough Park has been named by The Sunday Times as one of the Ultimate 100 British Hotels and as one of Britain’s 30 Best Country House Hotels by the Daily Telegraph, among many other awards.
We asked Oliver a few questions about his upcoming plans for Ellenborough Park…
What are your plans for the hotel for 2017?
We want to continue growing our business, particularly focusing on our retail and MICE markets, and offering more and more weddings that are so well received. We have some key team members joining over the next couple of months, which will really add the finishing touches to a wonderful group of people and allow us to push our standards and product onwards and upwards. On top of that we have an exciting project on the drawing board for later this year, which will give the hotel a fresh lease of life and more warmth and energy into the hotel estate.
What do you hope to achieve at Ellenborough Park?
We are quite an ambitious bunch at Ellenborough. We want to be the best that we can be – luxury, unquestionably five star, and cement our position as the best hotel in the county and in the region. This will come with the growth of our business, as well as our reputation for accessible luxury and world class hospitality.
What are you bringing to the local community?
We engage as much as we can with our friends and neighbours in Cheltenham and the Cotswolds. Ultimately we are a good employer, directly as well as indirectly to our supply chain, and we support many local charities, events, schools – working with colleges through apprenticeships and work experience. Supporting and partnering with local events such as the Cheltenham Festivals, the food festival, racing at Cheltenham and Andoversford, and many more.
What is your favourite place to visit on a weekend in the Cotswolds and why?
A family favourite is Burford. Great garden centre, lovely shops and town high street – perfect for the little one and the dog. Plus the wildlife park nearby as well!
