How to spend February Half Term in the Cotswolds
There’s plenty to do this half term in Cheltenham and beyond. Put the 12-16th February in your diary and join us at our family-friendly hotel in the Cotswolds – children can stay and eat for free! When half term comes around, your little ones will be itching for places to go and new activities to experience, so we’ve compiled a list of things we are sure they will enjoy.
Survival masterclasses are an ideal way to bond as a family and see who is the toughest! Tim Treloar, formerly of the Bear Grylls Survival School, will teach your family the required basics on how to be a survivor. From making fire and collecting wild food to survival scenarios that will test your skills, he’ll cover all you need to know and everything in between to see that you are ready to take on anything. The course takes place near our hotel in a woodland area on the side of Cleeve Hill. Priced at £50 per person under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Throughout February you and your family can get up close to wildlife and experience lambing for yourself. Countryfile’s own Adam Henson invites you to see the magic of lambing and learn about this special time in the farming calendar. Over 660 ewes are due to give birth, so experts will be on hand to provide daily talks, guide you in the lambing shed, witness a birth, let you bottle feed lamb and goat kids and even handle the chicks and rabbits! There’s so much to do including farm safari rides, egg hatching, animal feeding and play equipment that they’ll want to go back every school holiday. Family tickets available online.
On Thursday 15th February, Easter comes early thanks to Evesham’s Chocolate Genie workshop. If your children adore cocoa treats and see themselves as budding chocolatiers, then this half term is the perfect chance for them to participate if they are aged between 7-13 years old. Combining delicious treats with creativity, education and a hands-on experience, your little ones can use Belgian chocolate to develop their dipping, piping, shaping and decorating skills. You can even get them practicing when you return home! The only problem is, who will get to eat it? £15 per child.
It would be a sin to visit the Cotswolds and not experience the beauty of the great outdoors. Newark Park is a beloved National Trust property, and this half term you can see the beautiful snowdrop displays for yourself. Explore the estate, see what animals you find and admire the sweeping views of the Cotswold escarpment together – it’s a picture-perfect moment for all the family. Don’t forget to bring your walking boots and wrap up warm! Entry fee to the property applies for non-members.
