Dressing the hotel for Christmas
Much anticipation builds at this time of year; guests and visitors alike look forward to a very Cotswolds Christmas at our 15th century country estate. From dining and stays to drinks and dancing, our accommodation is full of exuberant festive cheer that is testament to how many Christmases we have hosted over the years. To mark 2018’s celebration we have compiled this blog to showcase our decadent decorations.
Nothing compares to seeing them for yourself…
Reception is the gateway into the hotel, so we thought it fitting to adorn the fireplace with foliage and a beautiful garland. Though it hasn’t been lit for many years, it is a classic tradition to decorate a fireplace in this way – both in hospitality and at home. To stay in keeping with the demure and classic aesthetic of the hotel, we avoided any garish or overt colours, and instead opted for shades that would complement the navy walls and wooden floors. This area is designed to welcome and relax our guests.
The Great Hall
The Great Hall is a hub of activity and the heart of the house. Here, we erected and dressed our Christmas tree so that guests could recline, relax and enjoy a cup of tea, coffee (or something stronger!) in a festive atmosphere.
Taking inspiration from the theme at reception, we decided to adorn The Atrium with another garland in slightly lighter hues that would offset the leather stools and burnt orange Chesterfield style seating. It’s all about incorporating Christmas into the décor without overwhelming our distinct style.
Decorations at Ellenborough Park wouldn’t be complete without a touch of undeniable luxury – hence why our wreath features peacock feathers. The rich blues and splashes of gold perfectly sum up what we aim to deliver during Christmas, albeit in pallete form: a memorable and decadent experience that has just the right amounts of tradition and modern comforts.
Few other hotels in the Cotswolds offer such luxury and indulgence all throughout the year, not forgetting a touch of festive flair come December. From getaways to unrivalled dining experience, there really is only one choice this winter.
